SOFTWARE ENGINEER – Q2 2005

LeoTel Software Systems is a software and systems house, established in 1986,
with a proven record of providing high quality, cost effective systems engineering
services and solutions both in the UK and internationally.
We specialise in giving our clients a competitive advantage by developing
innovative bespoke software and systems solutions, from embedded control
systems to process management and monitoring software, using the latest
technologies.
We operate primarily in the telecommunications sector but also carry out projects
in the media / broadcasting, medical, biochemical, manufacturing and avionics
sectors. Our clients come in all sizes, from international blue chips to local small
to medium enterprises.

growing the business.
The Role
Working closely with the senior engineering team you will be responsible for the
development and maintenance of real-time object orientated software
components in client driven projects and as part of LeoTel Software Systems
intellectual property and product development activities.
The position will be primarily based at our Stevenage office but may require
occasional visits to client sites (or their customers) for consultancy, integration
and/or system testing assignments.
Requirements
The following are essential requirements for this position:
A strong academic background with a degree in engineering, computer
science or mathematics including a software engineering component.
Up to two years experience in a commercial software engineering role or,
alternatively, completion of a substantial software project during your degree.
Experience of developing real time and/or embedded software using:
Java and C++
An Object Orientated Methodology
Are innovative, entrepreneurial and independently minded.

Any of the following would be an advantage:
Experience of developing software using: C#, CORBA, Databases, Perl,
TCP/IP, UML and/or Web Technologies (e.g. APACHE, SOAP, SSL, TOMCAT,
XML).
Experience of developing software for any of the following platforms: pSOS,
QNX, UNIX API (e.g. Solaris, HPUX, *BSD, Linux), VxWorks and/or Win32.
Experience of developing software for any of the following microcontrollers /
processors: ARM, ATMEL, PIC, PowerPC, SPARC and/or X86.
Remuneration
Salary to £20K.
